Every summer, animals arrive in emergency care with heatstroke. It is one of the most serious and preventable emergencies.
Act immediately
Move the animal into shade, wet them gradually with cool but never ice-cold water, ventilate the area and offer water without forcing them to drink. Call us immediately, even if the animal seems to improve.
Prevention
Never leave an animal in a car. Walk early or after sunset and keep fresh water available. Short-nosed breeds need extra vigilance because they regulate heat less effectively.
